Product Profile: Oriental Motor’s BLV Series R Brushless DC Motors

OrientalMotorBLVSeriesR 400x275

February 4, 2022

Product name: BLV Series R Type Brushless DC Motors W (1/8 HP) and 200 W (1/4 HP)

What are they? The new BLV Series R type of motors were specifically designed for battery-powered input type applications, such as automated guided vehicles, autonomous mobile robots and conveyors suited for brushless performance. The usable voltage range is expanded to 15 VDC to 55 VDC with a speed control range of 1:400 r/min. Speed regulation (load) is reduced to +/- 0.01%. Oriental Motor said the product is also approved by the UL and CE.

Additional details: New functions are added to the compact driver to increase functional options and controls, including support for software integration. Through direct data operation, the driver can moderate the speed of the motor, much like that of a gas pedal on a car. The advantage is smoother speed control operation. Monitoring the power consumption is also available.

The new motor has new higher resolution Hall sensors that allow for increased motor feedback, improved stopping accuracy and lower speed operation. Both the new motor and driver are more energy efficient than the existing BLV series and are capable of longer operations from a battery. The compact driver supports Modbus or CANopen communications.

Key features:

  • Designed for battery powered input applications
  • Compact driver
  • Usable voltage range at 15 – 55 VDC, speed range of 1:4000 r/min
  • Increased motor feedback, improved stopping accuracy and lower speed operation
  • Load Holding (positioning) when stopped
