Surfacide Launches Eos, a Portable UV Disinfection Device

Surfacide Eos 400x275

November 16, 2021

Surfacide, which develops UV-C technologies for cleaning and disinfection, has announced Eos, a portable, hospital-grade UV light disinfection device aimed at high-traffic, everyday spaces such as schools, offices, gyms, hotels, and restaurants. The company said Eos is a stand-alone alternative to the company’s robotic Helios System, a trio of UV robots that aims to fight pathogens in hospitals and healthcare facilities.

The Eos delivers Surfacide’s UV technology in a cost-effective package (under $20 per day) to facility managers and building owners. The company said its products are scientifically proven to rapidly decontaminate colonized surfaces and air within minutes.

At 71-inches tall, the Eos is a compact device on wheels that delivers floor-to-ceiling, 360-degree UV light disinfection, and can be moved from one environment to the next. Once it is wheeled into a room and an operator leaves, the Eos can begin its disinfection cycle via a wireless tablet. When the cycle is complete, the device can send an alert to the tablet. The Eos app is cloud-connected via Wi-Fi, allowing for real-time data access and instant, actionable reporting to help drive outcomes and utilization, Surfacide said.

With a competitive sticker price of around $20,000, along with more affordable shipping costs due to its lightweight design, the Eos also can be ideal for international and developing country customers that want to take advantage of the Surfacide technology, the company added.

Surfacide said it has seen a 500% increase in demand for their products, and the need to develop a more accessible device for everyday spaces. “We are excited to make our world-class technology accessible to everyday places,” said Gunner Lyslo, founder and CEO of Surfacide. “Surfacide is rooted in a decade of expertise in healthcare and has provided our technology in more than 500 healthcare facilities throughout the world. Eos leverages all of our knowledge to bring a simplified UV device to market for everyday use at a price that small business owners and corporations can afford. We’re proud to help bring peace of mind to people as we continue to navigate our new normal.”

The Eos will be available in early 2022 and will make its debut at this week’s ISSA Show North America in Las Vegas (booth W-3148).
