Faction Partners with Point One Navigation for Autonomous Delivery Support

Faction, which is developing self-driving micro-logistics vehicles and vehicle-on-demand transportation, has announced a partnership with Point One Navigation, which develops precise positioning technology. The partnership aims to bring right-sized driverless delivery and transportation solutions to the mass market.

Faction’s DriveLink platform deeply integrates Point One’s safe positioning technology, which provides centimeter-level accuracy to enable trustworthy and efficient autonomous operations, the company said. Faction is accelerating its commercial deployment of B2B autonomous delivery services by leveraging three-wheel production electric vehicles, purpose-built for driverless fleet services that are also supported by teleoperation. By combining autonomy with remote human supervision, Faction said its fleets are available now for business delivery use, and are not waiting for the development of 100% autonomous technology.

Point One said its precise location API is a trusted full stack solution built on proprietary self-calibrating sensor fusion algorithms. The APIs and open-source protocols integrate data from existing sensors on the vehicle, reducing production cost and simplifying vehicle design. The driverless applications are further enabled by Point One’s corrections network, which provides dense coverage across the entire continental U.S. This results in a system that can be quickly developed to navigate and operate safely, while also being flexible and scalable for volume production, Point One said.
