Locus Robotics Announces 500M Units Picked by Robots

August 24, 2021
Locus Robotics, which develops and manufactures autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) for fulfillment warehouses, has announced it surpassed the 500-million units picked milestone. The company said it picked more than 100 million units in only 94 days from its previous milestone, 400 million.
“Reaching our half-billion pick milestone this quickly underscores the critical business value that Locus’ proven technology brings to our customers around the world as they face exploding order volumes and limited labor availability,” said Rick Faulk, CEO of Locus Robotics. “As e-commerce volumes increase, the pace of picking with LocusBots is also increasing exponentially. Locus’ first 100-million milestone took 1,542 days, while the most recent 100-million picks took just 94 days. Locus is proud to have helped our customers efficiently meet this challenge while positioning them for success today, and easily scalable growth in the future.”
The company said the 500-millionth pick occurred at a VF Corporation Fulfillment Center in Praque, Czech Republic, and the item picked was a pair of Vans Old Skool shoes.
Locus added that its LocusBots have now traveled more than 3 million miles in customers’ warehouses, the equivalent of circling the Earth more than 120 times. “Innovation and an unrelenting drive towards customer success have no doubt been drivers in this achievement,” said John Santagate, vice president of Robotics at Körber Supply Chain, a partner of Locus. “500 million picks handled on LocusBots is quite the milestone.”
The company’s fulfillment solutions is aimed at brands, retailers, and third-party logistics (3PL) operators to meet higher order volumes and increasing customer demands through e-commerce, retail, omnichannel and order fulfillment. The company’s global customers include CEVA, DHL, Boots UK, GEODIS, Whiplash, Saddle Creek, Quiet 3PF, and Radial. More details are available at the Locus Robotics website.
