Cincoze Aims Rugged Computer at Disinfection Robot Makers

Taiwan’s Cincoze has announced that its Cincoze DS-1300 rugged industrial computer series has become the choice of epidemic prevention equipment vendors. The DS-1300 can be used within intelligent thermal gate warning systems and intelligent autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) that provide disinfection tasks.

In many spaces, AMRs that performed in smart factories to move goods have been adapted to deal with the epidemic. Cincoze said epidemic prevention equipment providers have taken advantage of AMR capabilities to launch robots with intelligent disinfection functions. In order to create an intelligent disinfection robot, an AMR must operate autonomously to avoid obstacles and communicate with fleet control software that assigns the robots’ duties. Cincoze said the control core of the AMR requires a robust industrial computer, such as the DS-1300.

The DS-1300 includes COM, USB, and Power over Ethernet (PoE) ports that allow robot makers to connect infrared sensors or high-speed cameras that can detect and avoid obstacles in the surrounding environment, letting the robot choose the most effective route. A built-in mini PCIe supports a Wi-Fi/4G/GPS module to track, locate and remotely monitor the AMR and send data to ensure disinfection. The DS-1300 series also handles temperature ranges from -40 C to +70 C, and input voltage ranges from 9 to 48 VDC, with overvoltage, overcurrent, and ESD protection. For outdoor protection, the system has passed the military-level shock and vibration certification (MIL-STD-810G). Dual SIM-card slots, a 2.5-inch SATA tray and CMOS battery replacement slots are accessible through the front panel to maximize convenience.

The primary purpose of intelligent thermal gate warning systems is to detect suspected infections quickly to limit contact and prevent infections. A system needs to have high-performance image recognition and connect to multiple peripherals, Cincoze said. The DS-1300 supports a 10th-generation Intel Xeon or Core processor, providing up to 10 cores with a maximum of 80W of power. Cincoze said this generation offers a 31% performance increase over the previous generation, and combined with up to 64GB of DDR4 SO-DIMMs, it can “effortlessly control multiple devices.” The system can also support a PCIe GPU card of up to 110W, giving additional image processing power.

The system also provides flexible I/O selection – in addition to native high-speed I/O interfaces such as GbE LAN, COM, and USB 3.2, the system can be customized to meet requirements of gate control and alarm systems. Expansion variations are possible through Cincoze’s various CMI, MEC and CFM modules, including 14x GbE LAN, 2x 10GbE, 32x DIO, 8x M12, 4x COM, 4x USB 3.20, and PoE.
