FANUC Launches Compact Robot for Machine Tending, Warehouse Operations

Fanuc LR 10ia10 400x275

November 10, 2021

FANUC America, which supplies CNCs and robotics offerings for manufacturers and warehouse operations, has announced the new LR-10iA/10 robot, designed for machine tending and picking applications found in warehousing and logistics markets.

The compact robot weighs just 46 kg, and can mount to a floor, upside down, or on an angle, the company said. The system can also be mounted to an automated guided vehicle (AGV) or other mobile platform to accommodate a variety of repetitive tasks or automate machines that are standing idle.

The LR-10iA/10 has a 10 kg payload and a large work envelope with a long reach of 1101 mm, FANUC said. The compact size also makes it ideal for companies with limited floor space, and the slim arm can fit into machine tools to load and unload parts. In addition, a fully enclosed structure features built-in air lines, solenoid valves and electrical utilities for easy integration. The robot’s IP67 rating allows it to operate in industrial environments with dust, water, and oil mist.

“The new LR-10iA/10 is a great solution to help manufacturers and distribution centers overcome obstacles associated with labor shortages, while improving throughput and reducing operating costs,” said Eric Potter, general manager of FANUC America’s general industries and automotive segment.

The robot is powered by the FANUC R-30iB Mate Plus controller, and offers the same intelligence and reliability available on FANUC’s other robots, including the integrated iRVision, force sensing and Zero Down Time (ZDT) offerings. ZDT not only reduces unexpected down time, it also helps users maximize production throughput, optimize maintenance costs, increase the life of their robots and access data from anywhere via the ZDT web portal, FANUC said.

Key features and benefits of the LR-10iA/10 industrial robot include:

  • A smooth and clean surface with internal valves, built-in user air lines, solenoid valves and I/O signals;
  • Slim, lightweight and compact form factor allows for easy installation, even on an AGV;
  • Strong wrist with high payload, moment and inertia;
  • 10 kg payload with full work envelope; can handle 13 kg with restricted envelope;
  • Standard IP67 rating and fully enclosed design;
  • Designed for machine loading and unloading, as well as part picking.

FANUC said it will begin shipping production units of the LR-10iA/10 in January 2022. Go to this FANUC website for more details.
