Piaggio Fast Forward Launches Chic Version of Personal Robot

October 25, 2022
Piaggio Fast Forward (PFF), which develops following technology for mobile robots, has announced the launch of the newest member of its Gita robot family. The first all-black limited edition of the gitamini is aimed at healthy living enthusiasts, fashion and accessories lovers, environmentally conscious individuals, technology adopters and those with “pedestrian-first” lifestyles.
PFF said the limited edition version in Shadow Black operates with the same pedestrian etiquette as the company’s other consumer robots, but is the first gitamini to have a built-in Bluetooth speaker that owners can use to stream music through the mygita app to enhance the “life-on-foot experience.”
The gitamini is a cargo-carrying, “following robot” that lets users walk further and more often, rather than driving. The 28-lb robot includes a zero turning radius and includes easy-to-lift exterior hand holds. WIth a combination of cameras and radar technologies, the robot can see its surroundings and pair with users through the tap of a button, braking automatically when needed and adjusting its speed to keep pace with its owner. The robot stands and self-balances and can keep a following pace of up to 6 mph for up to 21 miles on a single charge, while carrying up to 20 lbs of gear (a capacity of 1,000 cubic inches).
The limited edition version includes matching black body panels and wheels, with cool gray features including the bin and logo, LED accent lighting and custom sounds designed by the Berklee College of Music, the company said.
“This holiday was the perfect opportunity to create an exclusive colorway for the best-selling gitamini robot,” said Greg Lynn, CEO of PFF. “We designed it with a blacked out body and wheels accentuated by the contrasting cool gray interior to provide its user the ability to easily locate belongings inside the bin. We also give this gitamini a Bluetooth speaker so walking enthusiasts have a more elevated experience as they enjoy even more of their life on foot. With most walking trips being a mile or less, gitamini makes those 2,000 steps easier, more fun and now eye-catching.”
The limited edition is available on a first-come, first-served basis, with a starting retail price of $2,175. For more details on the robot, visit the PFF website here.
