China’s Fibocom, which provides Internet of Things (IoT) wireless solutions and communication modules, has announced a collaboration with Taiwan’s Aetina Corporation, which develops high-performance GPGPU and edge AI computing solutions. The new effort aims to bring high-speed, ultra-reliable and low-latency 5G capabilities to empower robotics, unmanned aerial vehicles, industrial IoT, and smart healthcare applications.
The partnership pairs Fibocom’s 5G Release 16-compliant module FM160-EAU to Aetina’s AN810-XNX AI edge computing platform. Based on NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX, the AN810-XNX platform supports M.2 devices with extension slots, which assists developers in expanding their systems communication ability and I/O connectivity.
The companies said 5G allows artificial intelligence and IoT (dubbed AIoT) applications to overcome the data-transmission bottleneck, while analyzing and learning from data with rapid precision. Compliant with 3GPP Release 16 (R16) standards, the FM160-EAU from Fibocom is a high-performance 5G M.2 module supporting NR Carrier Aggregation (CA), which optimizes the 5G user experience through fast speed, extended coverage, boosted throughput and increased capacity. The combination allows businesses to benefit from more intelligent and autonomous decision-making.
The two companies said they plan to optimize AI edge computing solutions based on NVIDIA’s Jetson AGX Orin platform with a high-performance 5G module that features the latest 3GPP standards, as well as enhance the development of 5G AIoT.
