Norstat Offers Micron Light Curtains for Detection, Object Recognition, Measurement Tasks

July 26, 2021
Norstat has announced it now offers a light curtain line from ReeR, SpA specifically designed for the measurement, detection and recognition of objects in industrial applications.
The Micron line of light curtains are designed for applications where it is necessary to detect, measure, or recognize specific objects or shapes. Depending on the number and position of the beams engaged by an object, the measurement sensors can provide real time information to a PLC or PC. The light curtains can also perform counts, detect positions, shapes or the profile of an object, in addition to accurately measuring an object’s dimensions.
Five versions of the curtains are available, including models with I/O link protocol. Configuration software for PC, with a graphical user interface, is supplied with each light curtain. Applications include automated warehouses, conveyor belts, quality control verification, loop control, or general detection and shape recognition.
Available beam spacings are 5-, 10-, 25-, 30-, 50- and 75-mm, the company said. Controlled heights range from 150 mm to 3,000 mm for models with beams spacing 10-mm or higher, and 150 to 1,500 mm for 5-mm beams spacing. Detection ranges are between 2.5 m up to 18 m. Connections are accomplished with M12 connectors for set up with LED lighting showing real-time operational status and diagnostics. For applications with more aggressive or harsher conditions exist, the curtains include a protection rating of IP65 and IP67.
