Inventus Power Achieves UL Certification for PROTRXion Batteries

Inventus Power, which develops advanced battery systems, has announced it achieved UL 2271 and IEC 62619 certification for its portfolio of PROTRXion lithium-ion batteries. The UL 2271 standard ensures that battery products at the cell, module, and pack level are safe for use in a variety of light motive or transportation-related applications. The IEC 62619 certification specifies the requirements and tests for safe operation of rechargeable cells and batteries for use in industrial applications.

Inventus said its PROTRXion lithium-ion batteries were designed to address several markets’ electrification needs that are not being met through power sources such as combustion engine, lead acid batteries, and other conventional technologies. The batteries are aimed at markets including material handling, aerial work platforms, low-speed electric vehicles, robotics, and professional cleaning.

“Safety is a top priority for Inventus Power,” said Phu Tran, director of global product management at Inventus Power. “When developing batteries, we ensure they are safe and reliable for their intended application by testing and certifying to global UL and IEC standards. PROTRXion batteries were designed to power applications that operate within harsh environments, and are subject to fluctuating temperatures, shock, vibration, and exposure to the elements. Achieving UL 2271 and IEC 62921 certification provides assurance to our global OEM and aftermarket customers that these batteries are safe to use in light electric vehicles.”

The portfolio of PROTRXion batteries includes 12V, 24V, 36V and 48V options, scalable to address different market needs and related duty cycles for each end application, the company said.
