Integration Partners Deploy Exotec Skypod for Gymshark Facility

Advanced Handling Systems (AHS), a full-service integrator of automated fulfillment distribution solutions, has teamed up with Radial, which delivers omnichannel e-commerce technologies, to implement a new system for fitness retailer Gymshark. A facility in Allentown, Penn., will utilize the Exotek Skypod System as the central pick engine that can switch between batch and discrete picking to support an output of more than 240,000 units per day.
The system aims to support Gymshark, a fitness and apparel brand based in the U.K., which is experiencing accelerated growth. Gymshark partnered with Radial and AHS to expand its reach and implement the Exotek system in the 640,000-square-foot Allentown fulfillment center.
“Working with both Radial and AHS – we believe we are investing in a partnership and solution that will not only allow us to offer a best-in-class service to our customers in the U.S., but also allow us to scale the operation as we continue to grow in the North American Market,” said Chris Ormonde, operations director at Gymshark.
The Exotec Skypod system uses mobile robots that can move in three dimensions and reach heights of 40 feet to enable high-density inventory storage. The system uses laser scanner navigation and software to increase warehouse throughput by up to five times with a two-minute response time for all SKUs, AHS said. In addition, the Exotec system supports Radial’s goals of improving the associate experience, creating improved working conditions and fostering more sustainable warehouse productivity by reducing highly repetitive, physically intensive tasks such as walking, lifting, and bending.
“Supply chain disruptions, ongoing labor constraints, and rapid growth of e-commerce continue to drive demand for adaptable robotics solutions,” said Romain Moulin, CEO of Exotec. “Exotec supports large, innovative brands like Gymshark and gives them the flexibility to scale their operations rapidly in response to consumer demands while ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.”
AHS said it has launched and installed several Exotec Skypod Systems in the U.S. This deployment will include more than 100 Skypod robots to aid in Gymshark’s goals. The new system is expected to go live in Q3 2022.
“We are constantly looking for new technologies that can improve our processes and provide our clients a competitive edge, making their fulfillment more efficient and intelligent,” said Steve Fischer, director of implementations engineering at Radial. “AHS’s ability to bring innovative solutions with a greater understanding of our business is what makes our relationship work so well. We are excited to partner with AHS and Exotec to deliver this advanced fulfillment system to service Gymshark.
