OPEX adds RFID Scanning to Automated Warehouse Sorting Solution

OPEX Corporation, a global automation provider, has announced expanding the capabilities of its Sure Sort Warehouse Automation technology to incorporate radio frequency identification (RFID) scanning to increase operational speed and efficiency. Sure Sort is a scalable warehouse automation solution for distribution centers, retail stores, and third-party logistics. Its operational functions include order handling, cross-docking, and reverse logistics. RFID scanning is also popular in pharmaceuticals processing.

OPEX said it added RFID scanning capabilities to meet the growing needs of apparel manufacturers and retailers. Barcodes can get hidden in garments and require additional operator handling, slowing operations. Because RFID employs radio waves, scanning does not require visual oversight.

“The expansion to RFID is just another example of how we live our values and principles to listen and be responsive to customers’ needs,” said Alex Stevens, president of OPEX Warehouse Automation. “It is another great tool in our growing portfolio of modular and flexible warehouse automation technology and solutions.”

With increasing labor costs and supply chain challenges, warehouse automation technology has never been more crucial. Sure Sort robotic delivery vehicles, iBOTs, quickly and accurately process up to 2,400 items each hour with as few as three operators, and can recharge as they travel through the system. OPEX said it will be exhibiting at the National Retail Federation convention at the Javits Center in New York City January 15th-17th. The Sure Sort automated put wall will be demonstrated on site in the OPEX booth, #769.
