BEUMER Launches New Line Sorter and Pouch System for E-Commerce Operations

BEUMER, which designs and manufactures material handling, automation and intralogistics systems, has announced Two new systems to deliver more flexibility and scalability for midsize volume operations looking to meet rising demand for e-commerce orders in the North American region. The BG Line Sorter and BG Pouch System uses next-generation technologies based on BEUMER’s 80-year history and the design and manufacture of more than 1,500 intralogistics systems.
The BG Line Sorter (pictured, right) extends the handling mix of parcel and material handling operations by allowing them to sort the widest possible range of items, while using a modular design to ensure flexibility and optimize space.
“We are pleased to lead a paradigm shift in line sorting by using active slat-belt technology and linear synchronous motors to deliver a line sorter that combines the simplicity of a line sorter with the handling capabilities of a high-speed, cross-belt sorter,” said Terry Brown, sales director of BEUMER Group’s Logistics Systems. “Based on a proven technology, the solution features highly durable belts and maintenance-free motor technologies to keep energy consumption and maintenance costs at a necessary low.”
The BG Pouch System (pictured, left) delivers low-cost, multi-use sortation for fulfillment centers and distribution centers by utilizing underused overhead space to achieve omnichannel fulfillment and increase operational flexibility. The Pouch System, also known as pocket technology, can buffer, sort and sequence single items to automate order handling and returns processes with a capacity of more than 10,000 items per hour per sortation module, BEUMER said. By integrating warehouse management system (WMS) data, the BG Pouch System can serve as an immediate buffer for items most likely to be resold, optimizing the supply chain from warehouse to B2C and B2B recipients with less manual handling.
