ARM ProjectCall400x275The Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing (ARM) Institute has published its latest “Special Call for Technology Projects”, which aim to address specific needs in the manufacturing industry and support the Department of Defense. ARM Institute Members are free to submit proposals, which are due on June 28, 2021 at 5 p.m. ET.

The latest project call now includes a two-step proposal process and several new special topic areas, including artificial intelligence (AI) in robotics for manufacturing; terrestrial manufacturing for space; autonomy in robotics for manufacturing; manufacturing hypersonic components and structures; and safe manufacturing of energetics.

The special topics were identified through a joint ARM Institute and DoD analysis as being the most urgent and important for the ARM ecosystem to address. Development in these areas will create significant impact in the DoD and/or commercial communities, ARM said. In order to be considered for the proposal phase, all concept papers must address at least one of the special topic areas.

Interested members can download the project call here, as well as go to this website for more information. ARM is hosting a public webinar on Thursday, June 17, at 1 p.m. ET to review the project call content and process. A webinar recording will be available for those who cannot attend the live webinar.

Previous projects from ARM have included robotic-assisted COVID-19 testing, autonomous mobile capability for room disinfection robots, autonomous robotic spraying and disinfection in warehouses and shipyards, augmented reality-based human-robot interaction, and swarm robotics for large structure manufacturing.
