Hyundai Motor Group, Boston Dynamics and SoftBank Group have announced the completion of Hyundai’s acquisition of a controlling interest in Boston Dynamics from SoftBank, following regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. The deal is valued at approximately $1.1 billion, with additional financial details not disclosed.
Dusty Robotics, which develops robotics-powered tools for the construction industry, has announced raising $16.5 million in Series A funding, led by Canaan Partners. Dusty has now raised $23.7 million in total funding for its construction automation platform.

Skydio, which manufactures drone and autonomous flight technology, has announced the general availability of its Skydio 3D Scan adaptive scanning software, which adds artificial intelligence to automate photographic data collection and mapping tasks, ranging from infrastructure asset inspection to crime and accident scene reconstruction. The software is now available for Skydio 2, with Skydio X2 availability coming soon. The software can be purchased as an optional add-on to any Skydio 2, starting at $2,999 per drone per year, or as part of new vehicle and software bundles.

Boston Dynamics’ robotic dog Spot is getting a “dog house.” Percepto, which develops autonomous inspection services for drones, has launched the Percepto Base for Spot, which offers an end-to-end autonomous cycle for outdoor inspection, keeping the robot protected in extreme weather conditions and safe from damage or theft.
RedZone Robotics, which provides wastewater asset management solutions and inspection automation, has launched Vertue, a multi-sensor inspection (MSI) tool for manhole inspections. The company is offering Vertue as a stand-alone product and service, or part of its Accelerated System Assessment Program (ASAP).
Denmark-based Inrotech has announced a new welding solution that aims to help construction companies overcome common challenges in the welding of storage tanks. The company’s Inrotech-Crawler is a robotic welder that runs on a rail, allowing for the creation of vertical and horizontal welds, is expected to hit the market within the next month.

Exyn Technologies, which develops autonomous aerial robot systems for complex, GPS-denied industrial environments, has announced it achieved the highest documented level of aerial autonomy. At Level 4A Autonomy, Exyn’s drones are capable of free-flight exploration of complex spaces, with the complete determination of flight path at 2+ meter/second flight speeds, and with higher data collection in larger volumes.

AMP Robotics, which develops artificial intelligence, robotics and infrastructure for the waste and recycling industry, has announced AI-powered material characterization software that enables the recognition and classification of recyclables that flow through different recovery stages of the recycling process. This innovation helps provide measurable transparency on the recyclables captured and missed during different recycling processes, as well as confirming the composition of recovered material bales destined for resale to end markets in the supply chain.
Construction robotics startup Canvas has announced it raised a $24 million Series B funding round, led by Menlo Ventures. The company said it plans to use the funds to accelerate plans to transform construction work by bringing robotics into the built environment, starting with drywall finishing.

ACEINNA, which develops inertial-based guidance and navigation systems for autonomous vehicles and automated machines, has announced that Geosun, a developer and manufacturer of lidar-based navigation systems for drones and remotely operated vehicles, has selected ACEINNA to supply the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) sensors for the system.

Sarcos Robotics, which develops robots and exoskeleton systems that augment humans for productivity and safety, has announced it will become publicly listed through a merger transaction with Rotor Acquisition Corp., a publicly traded special purpose acquisition company (SPAC). The transaction is expected to provide the company with up to $496 million of proceeds before expenses to fund business plans, facilitate potential bolt-on acquisitions, and enhance capabilities.
