SmartDroneDiscovery400x275Steel City Drones, a reseller based in Birmingham, Ala., has announced a partnership with SmartDrone to provide quadcopter unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for surveying and mapping services in the southeastern U.S. The partnership will offer land surveyors and mapping professionals with the latest technologies, with drones available in Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee for missions using lidar scanning for surveying and mapping.

The company will use SmartDrone’s Discovery package, which integrates hardware, software and services that surveyors and GIS professionals need for collecting topographic data.

The Discovery drone is a fully automated aerial collection platform that uses high-resolution lidar and automated self-service lidar processing that augments traditional earth measuring. SmartDrone said the system offers customers fast payback, and increases productivity in the field by as much as 10 times. Customers can view results before leaving the job site in real time with the company’s one-click processing suite.
